Destruction. "Kali" also mean "the black one", the feminine
noun of the Sanskrit adjective Kālá. Goddess Kali's earliest appearance is that
of a destroyer principally of evil forces. She is worshipped by devotional
movements and tantric sects variously as the Divine Mother, Mother of the
Universe. She is often depicted with her tongue hanging out and that is a
distinctive feature of the Goddess.
This
piece depicts the Goddess in regal finery. She is seen adorned with jewellery and
her doe shaped eyes are prominent. The diamond cut pieces around her face gives
an aura effect and her head gear has beautiful geometric shapes giving the
effect. Delicate strokes on these chips accentuate the face.
