The Rajasthan and Mughal
royalties held the elephants in high esteem. The Elephant holds a very symbolic
status in the princely state of Rajasthan. The Kings and Emperors would unwind
watching elephants fight. From ancient times, animal vs animal or man vs
animals has been a very popular sport. Elephants represented Good Luck and they
were brought into the arena fully decked. This was also seen as a practise for
wars when the Kings would be atop the Elephants and fight. Sturdy and massive
elephants were specially trained for such fights.
