This piece of art portrays a flower seller
eagerly awaiting her customers. Flowers are an integral part of the Indian
culture, its used for decorating the house, offered in temples, to adorn the
hair etc. The orange flowers are called Crossandra infundibuliformis or firecracker flowers, also known as kanakambaram and the white are the jasmine or malli poo
or mulla poo. The delicate fragrance lifts the spirits and Indian women
specially in South India never miss an opportunity to wear them, to temples,
schools, functions, offices etc. The flower sellers are mostly seen near
temples, market places or simply selling flowers door to door. The lady here
has a tired yet pleasant look in her eyes, waiting for her basket to get empty.
A white dash behind her lifts the spirits and some colours add to the mood
